Specialty field:Philosophy

My research fields include modern and contemporary Western philosophy and analytic Asian philosophy. Specifically, my areas of focus are Kant’s philosophy, philosophy of probability and statistics, scientific realism, East Asian Buddhist thought, Dōgen’s philosophy, philosophy of the Kyoto School, and philosophy of self. In recent years, I have been proposing “Self-as-We” as a perspective on humanity and society based on “incapability”.
