Specialty field:Comparative Cognition

My area of expertise is comparative cognition. Comparative cognition is a field that aims to shed light on the evolution of the mind by comparing the cognitive functions of humans and non-human animals. I have been particularly interested in companion animals, especially cats. Although cats are originally solitary animals, they have now developed sociality toward both conspecifics and humans. This change is thought to have occurred through the process of domestication, which increases tolerance toward others. How have domestic cats changed from their wild ancestors through domestication? To address this question, I aim to conduct behavioral comparisons with closely related species, investigate regional variations in behavior within domestic cats, and compare hormones known to be affected by domestication.
