I am working from an anthropological perspective on the relationship between collective religious practice (doing something together and gathering people there) in a broad sense and community. I have conducted fieldwork primarily on Japanese festivals and Tibetan Bon people. Recently, I have been interested in how chance encounters across regions and cultures move individuals and society, with “縁 en” as a key word.
