Chie Koga

Program-Specific Lecturer

Specialty field:Social epidemiology

My area of expertise lies in preventive medicine and social epidemiology—fields that scientifically examine the social and environmental factors influencing people's health and behavior. My research is based on the perspective that violence can be prevented, and aims to uncover how social and environmental conditions shape human behavior. Violence is not only a result of individual traits or personal issues of the perpetrator, but is also deeply connected to broader social backgrounds such as isolation and poverty. By analyzing large-scale, nationwide data, I identify the underlying causes of violence and factors that may help prevent it, and develop logic models to guide early interventions. These insights are expected to contribute to the planning of preventive policies by local governments and communities, ultimately helping to create a society free from violence.
