On March 2nd, IFOHS Program-Specific Assistant Professor Hisae Konakawa will present at the event titled “Forest of Arts and Sciences” vol9: ‘Imaginary and Signals: Comprehending “Mind” from Subjective and Objective Perspectives’, taking place in Katsura Campus of Kyoto University.
“Forest of Social and Natural Science” is a dialogue series where researchers at Kyoto University engage in cross-disciplinary discussions and re-examine the integration of Social and Natural Science from various perspectives.
This project explores the simple pleasures of dialogue, richness of connections, and potential for interdisciplinary research while sharing a sense of excitement found in cross-disciplinary conversation with the general public.
In the 9th edition of the event, Dr. Konakawa, who studies the recovery and development process of the mind through dreams, as well as Associate Professor Yosuke Itou (Graduate School of Engineering), who develops ultra-high-sensitivity sensors to detect faint magnetic fields from the human body, are both welcomed as guest speakers. The dialogue will start from examining common grounds between the guests and discuss questions about the meaning of “wonder” and “surprise” for each researcher in free-flowing discussion format.
