IFOHS Hosts Talk Session On “Do Different Cultures Mean Different Minds? – Adventures in Cultural Psychology”

On November 25, IFOHS organized a talk session at the Centennial Hall of the Kyoto University Clock Tower to celebrate the newest book (“Do Different Cultures Mean Different Minds?) of Specially Appointed IFOHS Professor and renowned cultural psychologist Shinobu Kitayama.
The session began with a lecture by the author, titled “Do Different Cultures Mean Different Minds? – Considering Diversity and Universality”, before Professor Yukiko Uchida (Director of IFOHS) and Professor Tatsuhiko Inatani (Kyoto University Graduate School of Law) moderated a public dialogue with the author. The discussion explored fundamental questions such as what culture is and what constitutes the human mind. More than 200 people in attendance showed great enthusiasm for the topic, leading to a lively atmosphere.
