IFOHS and IAC Co-Host November Seminar on “Humanities for a Multilayered Society of Values: Transformation of Value, Self, and Society”

2025.12.22

On November 17, 2025, Kyoto University and the Kyoto Institute of Philosophy held the “Comprehensive Partnership Agreement Commemorative Seminar” at Yamauchi Hall, Shiran Kaikan.

This seminar, titled “Humanities for a Multilayered Society of Values—Transformation of Value, Self, and Society”, was the first of its kind under a new comprehensive partnership agreement between Kyoto University and the Kyoto Institute of Philosophy. The institutional agreement followed the success of the “First Kyoto Conference—Toward the Realization of a Multilayered Society of Values” , a jointly held conference of the institutes in September 2025. The Kyoto Conference attracted widespread attention due its urgency and societal significance, highlighting contemporary questions about the true meaning of happiness and the values we should pursue.

On the day of the seminar, approximately 200 participants attended both in person and online, and the event concluded successfully with lively engagement.
