“Stop and Think: Let Us Rethink Radically” Vol. 2 — A public lecture series by IFoHS and Hakuhodo DY Holdings

2026.03.02

Stop and Think: Let Us Rethink Radically is an online public lecture series that explores timely social themes from both academic and corporate perspectives.

Even in the midst of our busy daily lives, we value moments when we naturally stop and think. By sharing and discussing the thoughts and feelings that arise in such moments, we hope to help people recognize, appreciate, and enjoy the connection between everyday life and the humanities.

On December 14, 2025, we held the second event in the series with the theme “Philosophizing Happy Lives with AI.” Speakers from three different fields—psychology, informatics, and law—shared their insights, followed by a cross-disciplinary conversation in the latter half of the program. We were honored to welcome the following speakers and experts:

Session 1: Yukiko Uchida (Professor, Institute for the Future of Human and Society, Kyoto University) — “Well-Being and Culture in the Age of AI”

Session 2: Tadahiro Taniguchi (Professor, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University) — “Will AI and Robots Change What “Meaning” Means for Us?”

Session 3: Tatsuhiko Inatani (Professor, Graduate School of Law, Kyoto University) — “Rethinking Law for the Age of AI”

Cross-Disciplinary Conversation: Prof. Deguchi, Prof. Uchida, Prof. Taniguchi, Prof. Inatani, and Mr. Iwasaki

The event opened with remarks from Taku Iwasaki (Senior Corporate Officer, Hakuhodo; Fellow, Institutional Advancement and Communications Office, Kyoto University) and closed with remarks from Yasuo Deguchi (Professor of Philosophy, Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University). Katsutoshi Tsuboi (Hakuhodo DY Holdings) served as moderator.
